@stitched83 I'm not in any way trying to lead you astray, actually it's just the opposite. I'm a fairly matured Christian and am only trying to help you see the truth. If you think about when Jesus was in the wilderness being tempted by the devil, He spoke scripture back to the devil as a defence with each temptation. This is our example of a way to engage in spiritual warfare, by using "the "sword of the spirit", which is the word of God" Ephesians 6:17 Jesus is the Word though. God bless you

I didn't think you were trying to at all!, but like I said, I've listened to other men instead of lChrist alone, and were led away from what Christ wanted for me. I just think it's dangerous business when you start putting too much trust in the scriptures for answers, and not in Jesus. I've noticed it with myself. We as mere men tend to use scripture for our personal wants whether we know we are doing it or not. This can't happen when you are going directly to Christ for all answers.

@stitched83 Yes, we are to go to God directly for answers in prayer, but God also speaks to us and can answer us through His word. Believe me there's nothing dangerous about reading the Bible when you're truly saved. It's food to our spirit and we shoud be feeding on it daily. Read your Bible as much as you can especially since you're still a baby in Christ. The devil is the one who doesn't want us to be continually in the word of God because he knows it helps us grow and gain understanding.

If that is what Jesus is telling you then by all means! Jesus is telling me something different. Yes the Bible is is an awesome gift from God. It is what lead me to Jesus in the first place! Now that I'm here with Him, I still read the bible occasionally, but get my daily bread from the word directly. Take care.

@finalcall07 If I didn't have a bible I would be forced to discern using prayer and the Holy Spirit, which would be tough if I didn't have any knowledge behind me. I may not even know to do this, if I had never read that this is what we should do. (catch 22) But God will always provides a way. I'm just glad that we do have the Bible so we can know more about God.

I am also glad to have a bible but more glad to know the Teacher who inspired the holy scriptures. Since He explains it to me I have true understanding.

I hear you. You do have to receive the word of God in the bible then you have not the Christ. You have to. As long as you don't deny the whole scriptures and the Godhead then you are not a cultist.

So I guess you base your beliefs on whatever the "spirit" says to you then, eh? Tell me then, just what "witness" do you have to validate what it is you believe the "spirit" is saying to you? If the "letter", as you call it, is totally dead, then there is NO witness by which men must judge between TRUTH and false teachers like YOU. The Word (logos) is Christ, and the Word (logos) agrees with Christ. You, sir, are a nut.

@Docmarino The Holy Spirit confirms the scriptures, not the other way around. If you do not have a spiritual relationship with the Father of Spirits you cannot know Jesus.

@finalcall07 Your play on words only serves confusion. It is the WORD that also confirms the "Spirit", so that we also know spirits of falsehood. The Scriptures warn us of men who in the last days would come as wolves in sheep's clothing. They operate within the Church, but what I hear from you is condemnation of the organized Church as a whole. I would be very careful sir, in your condemnations. It's a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God. Kids, PRAY for discernment.

something just occured to me. if you are trusting in knowledge of the scriptures alone, you will reject paul, and perhaps ultimately Christ. you have to have the Spirit.

@thedualwielder I have told you the truth how Jesus will judge.I am not the judge. If you do not have a relationship with Jesus and have not had revelation from Him you do not belong to Him. Salvation id based on a relationship with Jesus, not on the scriptures. He will say to many in that day: Go away, I never knew you.
The question is: Does Jesus know you? His sheep know His voice and they listen to Him (John 10:27) Do you? (And I, for that matter)

Ultimately, my question is are you stating that all churches are not operating properly? Perhaps, I have missed a statement of yours, for it seems as if you are demonizing the churches of today. Some churches are as you described, but some are truly sincere. Thanks for answering me and being willing to discuss this with me.
